PC Financial Mastercard celebrates ten years with 'Become a PC points Millionaire' contest
Toronto, ON: April 11, 2011 – Over the last decade, President's Choice Financial® has helped Canadians earn almost three quarters of a billion dollars in free groceries and rewards. Now, with the ten-year anniversary of its PC Financial Mastercard in the market, the company is celebrating with a series of special offers, contests and promotions to help Canadians save even more.
The year-long campaign kicks off today with the launch of the 'Become a PC® points Millionaire' contest, which will induct ten lucky Canadians into the PC points millionaire club.
"We know that Canadians are interested in smart ways to save money that also can bring value and benefit to their lifestyle, "says Barry Columb, CEO of President's Choice Financial. "Clipping coupons, watching for sales and using a no-annual-fee, rewards-based credit card like the PC Financial Mastercard, are all simple but effective everyday solutions that can really add up over the course of a year."
The contest, which begins today and runs until May 30, 2011, will see ten winners receive one million PC points each. That's enough for each winner to redeem for $1,000 of free groceries, Joe Fresh Style® fashions and almost any other item sold at participating Loblaw Companies Limited stores.
As Canadians look for new ways to do more with less, smart shoppers continue to rely on their PC points. Since 2005, PC points redemptions have increased by approximately 15 per cent.
"While some rewards-based cards see customers save points for many years to redeem for travel or other big ticket items, at PC Financial, our customers love the fact that they can redeem their points on a regular basis for food items and household products," added Columb. "Points can be redeemed for just about anything we sell in our stores, from bananas and broccoli to patio furniture and gift cards. Customers don't have to choose from a limited number of items in a catalogue – we make it easy for cardholders to select products, redeem points and save money in their everyday lives."
Since the card's launch in 2001, the no-annual-fee President's Choice Financial Mastercard has grown in popularity to become one of Canada's most popular credit cards. Since the PC points program began in 1998, customers have redeemed points for almost $750 million dollars in free groceries and rewards.
Cardholders acquire 10 PC points for every dollar spent on their PC Mastercard, which can then be redeemed for items at stores where President's Choice products are sold, including Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Zehrs, nofrills, Fortino's and Your Independent Grocer locations. PC points are easy to redeem at the store checkout – a minimum of 20,000 points (worth $20 in rewards) is required for redemption, or higher amounts in further increments of 10,000 PC points (additional $10). PC points can also be redeemed for T & T Supermarket gift cards.
