What can I do to help protect myself against credit card fraud?
Help protect your card with these easy steps:
Activate & Secure Your Card: Sign and activate your new card immediately upon receipt, and securely destroy any old cards.
Protect Your PIN: Memorize your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and keep it confidential. No one, including bank employees, should ever ask you for your PIN. Never write it down or share it.
Strong PINs & Passwords: Choose unique PINs and passwords that are difficult to guess. Avoid using personal information like birthdays, phone numbers, your Social Insurance Number, or simple sequences (e.g., "1234").
Monitor Transactions: Always keep your card in sight during transactions. If possible, swipe or insert your own card.
Shield Your PIN: When entering your PIN, always shield the keypad to prevent others from seeing it.
Single Swipe: Ensure your card is swiped or inserted only once and through a single machine.
Verify Card Return: If your card leaves your sight (e.g., at a restaurant), always confirm that the card returned to you is indeed yours.
